Update

yo people!

Well I have been in spain for 3 weeks which was niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! If you get chance go and see the Alhambra in Granada. It is RIDICULOUS!

Finished a tune whilst out there tho – no rest allowed for us…spent a while in a wee fee cafĂ© getting the new stuff off our drop box (another sweet thing to use – type dropbox into google). And was floored. There are pics of me sitting listenin to the tracks for the first time in the sun…SO we have lots of new stuff. The songs are written and Vocal and Guitar parts are being refined at the moment. This all equals HELLS YEAH! The new tracks are on another level. We have found our feet with this now and cant wait for you to hear the results.

The Results: these will be aired for the FIRST time at The Glitch Mob show on July 9th. This is gonna be our best one so far – if you miss it you will miss out!!! Full Visuals from our boy Fata Morgana as well. It will be silly!

Tickets and be bought from any of these fine establishments:

New set up live as well – we just spunked a load of money on an amazing interface so should make all the difference.

Got some pics to post – will try to remember – just so fucking busy getting tunes finished – and lets face it. We are in it to write music not type bollox on the internet : )

Busy McBusyson.....

Wow things are hectic...all fun and games though.

So we made a decision to take a little time off from playing live to get a load of new songs finished, and also complete a few other things we have been thinking about of late.

As you may know, Phil, Alison & Luke put on a night called This City Is Ours in Manchester, at which they are also resident DJ's and they have had an idea for a live remix project, which has now finally come to life. All loops, full tracks, Live Synths, MPC's and live manipulated vocals

Going under the name Ord Mantell, they will be playing their first show, This Friday, 14th May at the awesome Future Everything (formerly Future Sonic) festival.

This show is in the Sound Control Bar, which is hosted by This City Is Ours, and also features BLOOM (rwina) from Belfast for his Manchester debut show, and the T.C.I. O residents, Blood Boy, L.S.N & Anytime.
Heres the event info : http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=120513387958663&ref=ts

So as for kites? Well, we are working towards our first show back, which is going to be on the 9th July in manchester. This City Is Ours are outting it on, and i can tell you now, the headliner will have you salivating...should be announced pretty soon!!

So we will have a set of loads of new material sorted as well as the new live show we are currently working on, and we are super excited to show ya'll...Out!

Great crowd as well – thanks to everyone who made it down. Was a complete pleasure! Also to the BBC – really cool people – great to meet you all!

Think our interview and some live tracks will be on the show from next weekend onwards – they played Undoneath last night – thanks for that! But if you want us to hear us speaking incoherently about nothing in particular then tune in!

SOLD OUT Islington Mill

Well Saturday was a great night despite having a shocking sound engineer...the dude just didnt seem to care, which is ironic since he was engineering at a night put on by huge music fans who couldnt do enough to make it a great night! Oh well...So we had a few erm - issues shall we say, but even so people seemed to enjoy what we did so all good!

For This City Is Ours and Mind on Fire though it was a massive success - all acts were amazing - but it was first time for me seeing Mount Kimbie and Dennis Jones - both were fucking real good!!! I urge you to go and check them out if you havent already.

Check out the groovement show with us, mount kimbie and the mind on fire guys here:

About to confirm some shows in the next few hours so when they are will post them.

With live art from 158 and an install from “the one and only” Cycloptic, it really should be a sight, and a night, to behold. In the coming weeks there will be exclusive free tracks and mixes distributed through our sites and linked here, so keep your ears to the ground! In the meantime check the blurbs and links below to whet your appetite. Hold tight!

MOUNT KIMBIE (live)
http://www.myspace.com/mountkimbie
Hotflush Recordings presents a brand new production duo that eludes classification: Mount Kimbie. Based in London, they have developed a truly unique sound whose experimental rhythms lend themselves to the fringes of dubstep, wonky and hip hop, but ooze with emotion and echoing ambient soundscapes that take the listener to an entirely different place. This first release features four tracks which capture their evolving sound. The minds behind Mount Kimbie, Dominic Maker and Kai Campos, both 22, met at university and began making music together in a home studio in Peckham. Hints of their influences from hip hop, jazz, dubstep and experimental electronica can be heard in their productions. The EP has already been well received, with support DJs including Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC Radio 1 Experimental show (on which they also recently performed a guest mix), Scuba on his podcast for XLR8R, Rob Booth’s Electronic Explorations show, Ramadanman’s recent podcast mix for Dub War NYC, and Alex Incyde on Sub FM.

DENIS JONES (live)
http://www.myspace.com/denisjones
Denis Jones is a self-taught guitarist and songwriter from Lancashire, UK. Having begun his musical life as a singer songwriter in the classic UK mould of the likes of John Martyn, he has over the last three years developed a show-stopping live performance based around the core of his exceptional and unique guitar-playing style and rich, soulful voice. Utilising a loop station and all manner of samplers and effects, Denis creates vast, complex orchestrations of beat-box rhythms, multi-layered vocals and other-wordly sounds which veer from subtle heart-wrenching folk and blues to heavy bass-driven electronica.

This City Is Ours killed it…

Slugabed / Loops haunt / Illum Sphere / Blood Boy on the same bill. Man it was going to be sweet wasn’t it. Loops Haunt played a live set which was too fucking awesome! After a faulty power supply was sorted (so nice to see it isn’t just me that shit happens to!) Slugabed B2B with our very own Bloody Boy and Slugabed jamming with LH was a highlight. Totally cool. Our next gig is on Thursday @ The Deaf Institute.

If you want in email us @ kitesmusic@live.co.uk and we will wack you on the cheaplist. Its gonna be a good one so get down.

NEWS NEWS NEWS

Sorry for being rubbish at updating this – seriously we will try our very best to keep on it. What with band, night, life, somethings slip sometimes! So what have FTKOSQ been up to.

You can download our first demo from here – its completely FREE. All we ask is that you share it with your mates. We have also put stems of the track <@-;) up so you can fuck about with them to your hearts content. We have a had a great response so far from this – think we have 10 remixes now, and in a week or so when we have them all back I am gonna put up a download where you can get them all in one place. DEMO 2 is also just about ready to drop, and with the amount of people who remixed <@-;) and by the sounds of it had much fun doing so, we may even give you stems of one of those tracks as well!

2. We got an amazing review of Manchester Music – you can read the whole thing here: http://www.music-dash.co.uk/live/live.asp?item=1847

Seriously one of the best reviews of any band I have ever been in – my fav bit has to be ‘Cited influences Portishead and Flying Lotus are there in the sound, whilst the band's purported love of 70s prog comes through more in the meticulous assembly of the complex parts in this beautiful if slightly unsettling melee.’ Sweet

3. We have a show at the Deaf Institute next week. It’s a Drowned in Sound show which is cool as we have been fans of the site for years. The Deaf Institute is one of the prettiest venues in Manchester so I am thinking that this is going to be the real deal. If you want to be put on the cheap list email: kitesmusic@live.co.uk

4. Thanks to the lovely people at Modern English – we attended their launch night on Wednesday and had our fill of free food and booze – looks like an exciting project and we wish them well!

THIS CITY IS OURS – Slugabed / Loops Haunt / Illum Sphere and our very own Blood Boy this Saturday 6th Feb @ Joshua Brooks. This is gonna be HEAVY – man I cant wait to see Loops Haunt and you should be that way too! Next TCIO – a co promotion with our bros in Mind on Fire – the first This City is On Fire @ Islinton Mill. Mount Kimbie are headlining, and Kites will be playing as well!

We also have a show on 2nd March @ new Manchester venue Soundcontrol. I used to work in there when it was a music shop – so will be crazy to take to the stage in what used to be the staff room! Absolutely can’t wait – from what I have heard the venue – and especially the PA (which we at kites like) is supposed to be AMAZING. Which means I am gonna turn my amp up real loud and try to break the building. Be there to see if we manage it!

Kites land is a busy place at the moment so I am sure that I have missed something – we have a hella cool gig to announce in April which we have to keep under wraps for now, and sorting shows in Brighton and London, so maybe a mini tour in the pipeline. All good

Oh and we are doing a video as well. How cool is that!
