News from planet Kite.

Well.... It's been a criminally long time since we last updated our blog, but we've made a conscious decision to keep it updated with all things Kites and beyond, on a regular basis...

We've had such a busy summer playing many gigs with lots of really amazing bands, including The Pan I Am, Dub Trio, Kayo Dot, Max Tundra, Ital Tek and The Legend Of The 7 Black Tentacles (who we have the privilege of playing with again next week... Very very excited about that gig!).

We've also been busy writing, recording and generally making ourselves poor by buying lots of new gear. We seriously have so many ideas on the go that we are trying to find homes for them all at the minute.... All of us are really happy with the way the new songs are shaping up and just a wee bit giddy about what sonic adventures the future will bring...

So, our next gig is at Trinity Church in Salford, it's going to pretty damn special, so you should come down if you're out and about, here is the Facebook group.

Also, our very own Phil, Alison and the lovely Napkins have started a new night called This City Is Ours, which showcases cutting edge electronic acts and DJ's... The next one is this Friday.... Here's another cheeky link for you.

A video of one of our live shows is currently in the pipe line too, made by some nice filmmakers we met a while ago, who were kind enough to offer to film the debut night of This City Is Ours which we played, whilst also being very nice chaps in the process. We'll have some footage to show off soon.

If you're new to Kites weird and cosmic (some may deranged) world, then here is the bio we give to people. More soon...

Kites x
From the Kites of San Quentin were born out of a group of musician’s determination to do something truly unique. You have not heard or seen aband like this before. In its short life, From the Kites of San Quentin have been gathering momentum at a staggering rate. With one foot firmly plantedin the glitch side of Electronica, and the other in the world of Future Dub& experimental Hip Hop, they are creating music that deserves the tag of‘innovative.’ With influences ranging from the classic prog rock of Yes &Rush, to the more experimental hip hop sounds of some of today’s new breedof beat makers: Flying Lotus, Burial & Hudson Mohawke; they will not bepinned down or pigeonholed. Already drowning the Manchester scene in theirbass heavy frequencies, From the Kites of San Quentin could well be theMassive Attack or Portishead of a new generation.

Formed in February 2009, the band has already had the privilege of sharingthe stage with such diverse acts as Dub Trio (Ipecac Recordings); The Pan IAm (ex Larrikin Love), DJ Kid Kanevil (First Word / Stateless), Max Tundra(Warp / Domino) and Kayo Dot (Hydrahead Records), Ital Tek (Planet Mu).

SHOWTIME!!!

Easy,

So we are hectic as fuck at the moment. Trying to get the Studio finished (working on the coffee table has some pretty bad drawbacks) and getting songs finished for our first show. If you didn't know already, we are playing HUNGRY PIGEON The Northern Quarter Fesival, on Saturday the 23rd May. On at 12:15 in the A.M which should be pretty sick. Casio Kids are on the bill too, so come check us out. Hit us up if you want tickets at kitesmusic@live.co.uk

We should also be confirming a show in Sheffield at the sweet as fuck night, Thirsty ear. So keep checking back

New stuffs shaping up really cool, and we can't wait to bust it all out live.

Also you want to keep yout eyes peeled for a new night starting up in October in Manchester called "This City Is Ours" Dupstep, Electronica and Experimental Hip hop with some awesome guests, but more about that nearer the time.

We got this recently.

Beats? I fucking think so!!

So it's come to this......

Easy!

So time has finally been called on the wonderfully put together website. Due to everything in the world of social networking, we aren't gonna bother putting one together. Seems a little pointless seeing as nobody will ever see it, so we may as well keep you up to date here.

So about us. We are all either currently or have been in other bands, but none of that has any bearing on what we are doing now.

We make electronic music with Vocals and live manipulated guitars......and yes we can pull it off live. We gott hella sick of going to nights to see some producer play live just to watch the fucker pull out his laptop and press play on pro tools.

So yeah were gonna hit it hard, all ya'll Future Dub and Electronica heads should get down like a clown Charlie Brown.

Go listen to the first couple of tunes at www.myspace.com/kitesglitch or search From the Kites Of San Quentin on Facebook.

Safety!
